This trip to the Blue Ridge mountains showed my grandchildren where fresh apples and apple juice really came from. Their parents brought them out to a local Hendersonville orchard where you can pick your own apples.
As they went from row to row, you could almost be assured that some of the very best apples would be on the tops of the trees. Fortunately, Dad was on hand to provide a boost.
Then, you could wash the apples on site and use the orchard's apple press to make your own apple juice. What a fun time they had!
I have lived in many east coast U.S. states, but a few years ago I retired to the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of western N.C. It is a joy to wake up and see the sunrise over the hills, the birds soaring overhead and then watch them drop down to dine at my various feeders. It is both fun and frustrating to watch the gray and white squirrels circumvent every attempt I have made to keep them from eating all the birdseed at those feeders. It provides unlimited subject matter for my tales and photos. I love driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway and photographing the landscape. Among my favorite places to visit on the Parkway are Graveyard Fields, and Looking Glass Falls, just off the parkway outside the town of Brevard. I enjoy attending the downtown Hendersonville Music on Main Street concerts during the summer months.
Ow Really What a pleasant moment you passed...
