These were 4 barn swallows that had definitely outgrown their nest in our carport, but just couldn't seem to leave. While they are very beautiful birds flying through the air, they are incredibly messy if they nest near your property.
Not only did they take over a corner of our carport, their parents were very protective and kept dive bombing us when we got too close to the nest. That meant we had to fend off the swallows every time we needed to go out in the car or walk down to the mailbox.
A very special painting project!

with your luck, they'll be back next year to raise their young too...hahaha Nice capture Pat.
ReplyDeleteYou are right!! That is exactly what they did. We hosed down the area it seemed like 20 times a day - to try to discourage nest building - with no success whatever. So at the end of the season - we put up gutter guards - on a 45 degree angle. In theory, the nest building materials will fall to the ground as soon as they try to put them in place. We hope that will work, but we won't know until the swallows return next spring whether it actually works or not.
