Spring arrives in the Blue Ridge mountains

I waited so long for the daffodils to appear this year. Our winter was very cold and long, and although the stems peeked through the ground in January, these beauties did not open until about a week ago. And when they did, their buds were so enormous that the weight of them opening caused them to immediately droop to the ground - as if they were too shy to show their faces.
